We started the session by looking at what the word 'absorbent' meant by setting up a class experiment using food colouring, paper towels and water. We created a colourful 'snake' because the paper towels absorbed the water!
After that, we split into small groups and tested how absorbent different papers were. We used pipettes to carefully count out drops of water on to the different papers until each paper leaked water. We found that kitchen paper and the blue paper towels we use in school were the most absorbent.
