DT: Christmas Gift Bags
We have been busily working on our sewing skills in DT this half term. We started by looking at existing handbags and considering how they were designed and what positive and negative design points we could take from these. We then started to think of a product of our own, a bag that we could use for Christmas gifts. Our design criteria were that it needed to be a secure space to hold a decent sized gift without it dropping out and we felt quite strongly that this should be an up-cycling project. Having practised some basic stitching techniques (running stitch, back-stitch, blanket stitch and chain stitch), we set about turning an old t-shirt into a bag.
