HISTORY: Ashmolean Museum Virtual Visit
We had a great time virtually visiting some of the galleries in the Ashmolean museum. We got a really close look at some of the objects from their collections, much closer than we would have actually in the museum itself! We looked at many of the items that they have from Ancient Greece including sculpture, pottery and coins. The staff helped us to use these as historical sources to learn about life in the past from them. We looked really closely at the design on an Athenian coin and even had a go at making our own versions of it. We listened to a famous Greek Myth and then made some shadow puppets of some of the characters, like the ones the Greeks made themselves.
