The weather today was not great for getting outside, so instead we brought the outside in to us. We got very excited while watching the BBC Springwatch live webcams. There was lots of activity inside a tree nest. We used our birdspotting books to identify the chicks in the nest and discovered that they were greater spooted woodpeckers. we were even able to identify whether the chicks were being fed by Mum, or by Dad, by looking at the different markings on the parent birds as they came to the nest. We were amazed to realise that there were actually four chicks rammed in to one tiny nest!
