Are you a Young Carer?

.A 'Young Carer' is a child who spends time looking after or helping a parent, sibling or other family member who is unable to take care of everyday tasks themselves without some help.

This may be due to illness, disability, mental health problems or drug and alcohol issues. 

What might a Young Carer do? 

• Practical tasks, like helping with cooking, housework and shopping.
• Physical care, such as helping someone up and downstairs or in and out of bed 
• Emotional support, including listening, talking, calming or just being with someone when they need company.
• Personal care, such as helping someone dress.
• Helping someone communicate.
• Looking after or keeping an eye on brothers and sisters

• Managing medicines or money
