Reading for pleasure is at the heart of World Book Day. Making every day a book day can have a significant impact on children and young people’s wellbeing. Three in five (59.3%) children and young people said during the first lockdown that reading made them feel better.
World book day has been a little different in 2021 but the children at Hingham rose to the challenge! We built reading dens at home and in school used them to share stories with our families and friends. The children that were in school paired up with other classes and read stories to each other via Teams.
After all the children came back to school, we continued to enjoy stories and celebrate world book day by creating lovely displays around school based on the books we are reading in class. Can you guess what they are?
