Summer Term 2019 - Amanda Hartley
This July, local author and scientist, Dr Amanda Hartley, came to visit us. Her “hands-on”, interactive workshops based on her book “The DNA Detectives – To catch a thief” combined Science and Literacy and were brilliant! We became book characters and used DNA to find out the identity of a pet thief before helping to write a chapter of a book.
We had so much fun dressing up and working out who the thief was. We even got to arrest Mr Stead!
Here's what Amanda told us about her visit...
"Your children were amazing. I was really impressed when we were writing the story by how creative they were. Their descriptions were brilliant and showed what great imaginations they have! Their answers during the science section demonstrated their knowledge and I loved how enthusiastic they all were. I hope you are really proud of them. I really enjoyed working with them all."
